Heated Pools in Mallorca
We’re commonly asked for suggestions of hotels which have heated outdoor pools in Majorca. Although Spanish regulations forbid some hotels to heat certain capacity pools, there are still plenty of options if you have yet (like the kids and I) to embrace the idea of cold water swimming.
1. Hotel Bonsol, Illetes
This traditional and slightly quirky Mallorcan hotel offers plenty of family sized accommodation, great food (half board is particularly good value) and a warm welcome. The main pool is heated year round and there are a further 2 pools to choose, you can access the sea from it’s small beach. Only 20 minutes from Palma, a frequent bus runs from just outside the hotel, they’re happy to swap dinner for an excellent buffet lunch if you want to sample one of the capital’s many excellent tapas restaurants.
2.Hiposa Villa Concha
4* hotel in Puerta Pollensa in the north of Majorca. Offers a heated outdoor lane pool which over 14 year olds can use, a gym and serious cycling facilities. They have a lovely toddler splash area - which isn’t heated, but soon warms up in the sun as it’s shallow and has a few little slides. The main pool - as shown is also a perfect size and depth and easily passes the toe dip test in the summer months. The one bed suites and studios are far light, spacious and airy. The small upmarket town of Pollensa is perfect for a week’s stay with great restaurants, but close enough to Alcudia to enjoy their wider tourist facilities.
3. Zafiro Cala Mesquida
Recently taken over by the Zafiro group, this large hotel, close to a stunning sandy beach has a year round heated outdoor pool. It’s suitable for all ages, but definitely a family hotel. Lots of activities for kids and teens of all ages. It’s not (yet) as plush as the other Majorcan hotels in the group, a renovation programme will happen in the future, but good value accommodation is available for the summer season 2024.
4. Hotel Migjorn, Es Trenc
Close to the gently sloping beach of Es Trenc, this small luxury hotel caters for families with younger children and tweens. It’s 10 apartments have separate main bedroom and a small kitchenette. Highly recommended, but book early!
5. Grupotel Mallorca Mar
Near to Cala Millor and probably more suited to younger children. We’ve not been to this one, but apparently some outdoor pools are heated and pass the toe dip test!
Hotel Son Caliu
Superior 4 star hotel near to Palmanova with a selection of rooms, suites and apartments and a lovely warm pool and a beautiful setting overlooking the ocean. As a smaller hotel, it has a relaxed, spacious, international vibe, even when the hotel is full. No fighting for sunbeds at 8am.
Palma town is around 20 minutes away. A firm favourite.
